Platelet-Rich-Plasma (PRP) Therapy

PLATELET RICH THERAPY

You’ve heard of the vampire facial, right? Think of Kim Kardashian, her face covered in a thin layer of blood. It may have been a little unsettling, but the treatment has become increasingly popular with celebrities simply because it works so well.

The vampire facial is famous because it slathers your face with your own blood. As terrifying as this sounds, believe it or not, the science behind this totally checks out: the vampire facial nourishes your skin with the nutrients of your own blood – giving you luminous, glowing and radiant skin.

Yes, your blood is loaded with healing and rejuvenating properties, and you can now use it for amazing benefits!

If you suffer from dull skin, uneven skin tone, uneven skin texture, visible acne scarring, or hyperpigmentation, this treatment may be right for you.

At Therapeutic Aesthetics, Toronto’s leading medical spa, we do offer the Instagram-famous vampire facial! Formally known as Platelet-Rich-Plasma (PRP) Therapy, it is a very safe, Health Canada-approved medical treatment for both the face and scalp. Our Toronto experts at Therapeutic Aesthetics expertly administer therapy for our clients to treat their skin, as well as to treat hair loss.

Yes, your blood is amazing!

Your blood contains so many essential nutrients and growth factors, and we extract those nutrients to dramatically improve your skin and hair through the therapy.

WHAT IS PLATELET RICH PLASMA OR PRP?

Elite-PRP is a revolutionary and cutting-edge Health Canada-approved treatment, which unlocks the power of your own blood to regenerate your skin. It makes use of “Platelet Rich Plasma” a major component of platelets, which are a type of blood cell.

It is enriched with platelets, stem cells and growth factors that aid in your body’s health. Once injected into your skin, these substances will accelerate the normal healing process through new collagen formation at the treatment site. The overall process results in long lasting tissue rejuvenation and restoration by your own cells.

How does it work?

PRP therapy is administered with the patient’s own blood, which is drawn and purified. One of the major components of the blood, platelets, is extracted from the blood sample and expertly purified with laboratory-grade medical equipment known as a centrifuge. These purified platelets, which contain all the skin-healthy nutrients and growth factors, are then injected into the treatment area – either the scalp or face, to promote the growth and regeneration of hair follicles for the scalp and collagen into the skin.

It provides seven growth factors which stimulate collagen production by stimulating and activating the fibroblast (the cell that promotes collagen and elastin production). The result: wrinkles are diminished, along with large pores, hyperpigmentation and laxity on the skin. Overall, skin looks beautifully radiant, luminous and younger.

It is not just for the face – it’s also for the scalp. For best results for hair restoration, consistency is key. This treatments are typically performed once a month for the first three to four months, and then every three to six months thereafter, depending on the individual patient’s response and results. Following this protocol, anticipated results can first be seen within two to three months. Most people need anywhere from three to six sessions, with one session done about every four weeks.

How can PRP help me?

Though the vampire facial has just taken off on Instagram, the truth is that PRP has been used for years in a variety of medical and cosmetic treatments. It has been widely used for decades in plastic surgery, orthopedics, dentistry, soft tissue implants, and other medical procedures and has a variety of applications treating issues in each of these domains.

Platelet Rich Plasma or PRP Treatment can be the perfect treatment for you if you are suffering from severe injuries such as injured ligaments, tendons, joints, muscles etc. It has been particularly effective in hair restoration procedures as well as scar healing, particularly scar healing from cosmetic surgery procedures.

PRP AND MICRONEEDLING - A POWERFUL COMBINED TREATMENT

PRP is highly effective for skin rejuvenation. It works well on minimizing and erasing scars.

At Therapeutic Aesthetics, our experts use a combination of PRP and microneedling for hair restoration and face treatment.

Let’s look at the science behind microneedling. Microneedling is a non-surgical cosmetic treatment which essentially pokes tiny holes in the skin. The result: this allows serums and treatments to penetrate the layers of the skin even more, while stimulating collagen and elastin production. The holes in the skin force the skin to kick-start it’s healing process, resulting in the formation of new skin cells (and on the scalp, new hair). This results in the skin looking fresh, new, luminous and youthful, and the growth of thick, shiny and beautiful hair.

While microneedling and PRP treatments create wonderful results on their own, this combination creates a doubling effect of these amazing results. At Therapeutic Aesthetics, we strive to bring these incredible results to our clients, maximizing their treatment and satisfaction and giving you the absolute most for your money.

PRP WITH SKIN PEN

The Skin Pen is a special microneedling device used at Therapeutic Aesthetics. The microneedling treatment from the Skin Pen gives the skin an added stimulus to boost hair growth for hair restoration or to boost collagen production for skin rejuvenation on the face. This means even more radiance and even better-looking skin than what you would achieve with the PRP treatment alone. At Therapeutic Aesthetics, we provide our PRP facial treatment with the Skin Pen to help you achieve optimal results.

PRP WITH HYALURONIC ACID

Hyaluronic acid is a biosafe compound produced by the skin which allows skin cells to attract and retain water. This gives the skin a hydrated, moisturized, and radiant effect. At Therapeutic Aesthetics, we combine our skin-rejuvenating PRP treatment with the power of hyaluronic acid to help your skin look better than ever before. Your skin will look refreshed, hydrated, and glowing.

THE PRP TREATMENT PROCESS:

At Therapeutic Aesthetics, our PRP treatment experts get questions regarding the process all the time. We are always happy to take the time to listen to our clients’ questions and concerns and answer them with scientific data.

Let’s dig into the science behind it.

It is extracted from your blood itself. Your blood samples are taken and spun intensely in a centrifuge. This incredibly strong force separates the blood into it’s components: red blood cells, white blood cells and plasma. It’s the plasma that we need for this procedure. Our medical specialist expertly extracts this plasma, also known as PRP. The PRP is then purified before it is used in your procedure. The syringes are prepared from the purified PRP obtained from your body, and are treated with additives to increase the stability and results of the treatment.

Then PRP is then either injected into the desired treatment area, which will either be your face or your scalp for hair loss or hair restoration treatment.

The treatment can be used for several issues:

Aesthetic Rejuvenation: Your skin naturally ages over time. The aging process deteriorates the skin’s appearance, resulting in uneven skin tone, texture, and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Elite-PRP is an exciting new approach to rejuvenate your skin, naturally.

Anti-Aging: Elite-PRP is an amazing treatment method to treat sagging skin, wrinkles, fine lines, evening skin tone, and much more due to collagen production.

Damaged Skin: Evidence that PRP restores photo damaged skin has been clinically proven multiple times.

Scars & Acne: Does a traumatic surgery for the removal of your scars sound comfortable to you? We don’t think so. There are many clinical studies concluding that there is a positive correlation between using PRP therapy to treat scars and acne.

Hair Loss: One of the most effective ways to stimulate hair growth is through PRP treatment. For individuals who have hair loss due to an inadequate diet, hormonal imbalance, and/or circulatory insufficiencies, PRP treatment is a perfect solution.

Orthopaedic Treatment: The use of PRP injections has become a prevalent treatment in musculoskeletal conditions within the past few years to speed up the body’s natural healing process. PRP injections have been found to be extremely safe and directly accelerates the soft tissue healing process.

Ophthalmologic Conditions: PRP treatment has even been extended to ophthalmology as it benefits can aid tissue healing within the eye.

Dental: Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a new approach to tissue regeneration and it is becoming more widespread in dental and oral surgery procedures.
